Summer is finally here and now is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the outdoors with the whole family. The sun is shining, the temperatures are rising, and the bugs are not too bad this year.

Check out our suggestions below for family friendly hikes that you can enjoy with your little ones!

Mowry Beach, Lubec: Features a 1,700 foot wooden boardwalk that passes through coastal-scrub woodland and skirts a sphagnum bog and cattail swamp. This short walk is only 0.8 miles roundtrip and afterwards your family can explore the beach!

Reversing Falls, Pembroke: Reversing Falls is a great place for the family to see spectacular views of the largest set of tidal falls on the Maine coast. A short, relatively easy hiking path starts from the eastern parking lot and continues along the wooded shore. Be on the lookout for some seals!

Middle River Park, Machias: This park has over two miles of interconnecting hiking trails that offer a wide variety of habitat perspectives. Walkers can explore an easy mowed meadow trail or adventure into the woods for a relatively easy hiking trail. This location is also a great place for a family picnic!

Ingersoll Point Preserve, Addison: The Ingersoll Point Trail network consists of just under 3.5 miles of trails, offering hikers many different opportunities to explore forested sections and shoreline. Most trails are roughly 1 mile each way before opening up to a small beach.
