Pike Lands Preserve

Located near the northernmost point in Lubec, the Pike Lands offers scenic views of Eastport and points east as well as Cobscook Bay to the west.

Description:

The four trails at Pike Lands each offer unique landscapes. On the south side property, Huckins Beach, and the East and West Loop Trails all begin in old farmlands and apple orchards and then cross into spruce and cedar forests. Each trail is about 1 mile in length. The Huckins Trail leads to a beautiful shingle beach. Choose either the East or West Loops for a different return experience. On the north side of North Lubec Road, DCC has a 30 acre easement property, owned by the Bulter Conservation Fund. The Cove Trail includes Radcliffe Pike’s historic arboretum with its unusual trees and shrubs and one of Maine’s most diverse apple orchards. The short trail continues to the tidal cove, a great location for birdwatching, at the beach or near the salt marshes beyond.

Trailhead Directions:

Take Route 1 to Route 189 to Lubec. After 9 miles, turn left on the North Lubec Road at McFadden’s Variety. Go approximately 5 miles and the DCC parking lot will be on your left.
