Mowry Beach Plant Walk

June 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join Louise Barteau, local field botanist for a plant walk along the Mowry Beach Boardwalk. We will look closely at the coastal bog plants including Sweetgale, Labrador Tea, and Bog-Rosemary, while discussing the shrub bog’s overall ecological importance for birds and bugs (and humans!). If time allows, we will also take a look at some of the surrounding wetland and beach plants, too. Meet in the parking lot behind the Lubec School at the entrance to the Boardwalk at 10 am. No bathrooms on site.

Louise Barteau is a Lubec resident, who has been deeply involved in locating, identifying, and restoring native New England flora since 2005. She is a member of the New England Botanical Society and the Jossyln Botanical Society.

Outdoor programs are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather, updates will be posted here and on social media. Register here for email updates.
