Downeast Coastal Conservancy is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Wood as our new Executive Director, effective September 7, 2026. A Washington County resident since 2018, Dr. Wood comes with over two decades of experience in coastal conservation and advancing ecosystem protection and restoration. Bob brings a proven track record of managing strategic growth, fundraising, and developing community conservation initiatives. Most recently, he served as Director of Planning and Resilience for the Passamaquoddy Tribal Government at Sipayik.

In this new role, Dr. Wood will oversee DCC’s strategic direction, manage daily operations, and deepen relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
Dr. Wood expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to join Downeast Coastal Conservancy. “My father introduced me to this part of eastern Washington County when I was a teenager, and I came back every spring I could. Eight years ago my wife and I made it our home and shared it with our son. I am looking forward to working with and for the communities here to protect what makes life special for the people, plants, and animals we all appreciate so much.”
