Have you ever wondered about the splotches on trees and rocks? Did you think the people painting the trail blazes went overboard? The splotches seem to be everywhere, but what are they? During this lichen time together you will be introduced to the fascinating world of lichens. You will see the different growth forms, learn how they live and grow and even learn how they help human beings. Using a magnifying glass or hand lens you will be able to look closely at these incredible organisms. This will be an interactive time of exploring with plenty of time for questions. At the conclusion you will have the opportunity to think about what  you found to be the most interesting thing you learned about lichens.

This event will be led by Maine Master Naturalist Grace Bartlett at Klondike Mountain Preserve in Lubec.
