Now Hiring: Seasonal Stewardship Assistant
We are now hiring for a seasonal Stewardship Assistant. The Stewardship Assistant will: monitor easements and fee lands, carry out property maintenance including trail maintenance, assist with habitat conservation, carry out invasive species management projects, assist the Stewardship Director with the creation of management plans, and perform other tasks as requested to support the mission of DCC.
Winter Family Fun Day
On Saturday February 25th, over 50 participants braved the negative cold temperatures and windy conditions to join us for our Annual Winter Family Fun Day.

Valentine’s Day
This February, we are looking for new solemates who care all about the land and waters we all love! Make a donation in honor of a special valentine and we, DCC, will send them a special nature-themed valentine’s day card!
Words and Waters
Poetry enthusiasts from the DCC and the Downeast Salmon Federation recently gathered over wine and cheese at the Peter Gray Hatchery in East Machias to hear three poets perform some of their poetry and to celebrate the publication of the Writing The Land: Maine, the new anthology hosting 13 Maine land trusts and the 27 poets inspired by their adopted lands.
Mowry Beach Boardwalk – Accessible Community Resource
Wednesday October 26 was a beautiful, seasonably cool evening for Downeast Coastal Conservancy’s (DCC) sponsored Jack-O-Lantern Walk on the Mowry Beach Boardwalk in Lubec.
Another Successful Trail Run!
An enthusiastic group of runners, walkers and volunteers gathered in early October for the 6th Bad Little Trail Run jointly sponsored by Bold Coast Runners and Downeast Coastal Conservancy at the Machias River Preserve.
Now Hiring: Environmental Steward
DCC has been selected as a host site part of the Maine Conservation Corps AmeriCorps Environmental Steward Program. We will host one 900 Hour Environmental Steward from June – November 2023.

We are pleased to announce that this year DCC is applying for its first renewal of accreditation. A public comment period is now open.
