The Administration Manager will coordinate DCC’s office and support the administration of the organization including donor database management, billing and receiving, financial recordkeeping, general filing, and other office management duties as needed. Application deadline July 31, 2023.
Birding for Marsh Restoration
An intrepid group of birders recently ventured into a cold spring wind on the Sunrise Trail in Machias. They were there not only to admire birds but also to contribute to research that is building baseline information about the organisms that call Schoppee Marsh home.

Exploring Middle River Park
During the school break for many of our local schools, DCC hosted a mini camp for youth aged 7-10. The four-day minicamp explored the woods and waters of Middle River Park in Machias with ten eager campers ready to discover something new.
Upcoming Plans for a Single-day Prescribed Burn at Middle River Park
The Maine Forest Service is partnering with Downeast Coastal Conservancy (DCC) to conduct a one-day prescribed burn at Middle River Park in Machias during the week of April 17th-20th. The exact date of the anticipated burn is to be determined and will be based on weather conditions.
Now Hiring: Seasonal Stewardship Assistant
We are now hiring for a seasonal Stewardship Assistant. The Stewardship Assistant will: monitor easements and fee lands, carry out property maintenance including trail maintenance, assist with habitat conservation, carry out invasive species management projects, assist the Stewardship Director with the creation of management plans, and perform other tasks as requested to support the mission of DCC.
Winter Family Fun Day
On Saturday February 25th, over 50 participants braved the negative cold temperatures and windy conditions to join us for our Annual Winter Family Fun Day.
