Please join us in welcoming Cathy Lookabaugh as the newest member of our Downeast Coastal Conservancy Team. As our Membership and Outreach Director, Cathy will help grow DCC’s programming and outreach with the community.

Cathy is originally from New Jersey and first moved to the state to attend the University of Maine in Orono, where she earned her BS in Wildlife Ecology and BA in Mathematics. After graduation, she spent several years in Hawaii surveying sea turtles on remote back-country beaches as the field supervisor with the Hawaii Island Hawksbill Sea Turtle Recovery Project. Cathy moved back to Maine in the summer of 2017 and worked as the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator for the Maine Conservation Corps and then as the Volunteer and Administration Coordinator for youth non-profit called Trekkers. Most recently, she has been working for Sunrise County Economic Council in Machias.

Cathy and her husband Ian, a Lubec-native, moved back to his hometown in the summer of 2019. They are excited to call the Downeast region their home and love spending as much time as they can exploring the beautiful area. “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the new Membership and Outreach Director for Downeast Coastal Conservancy. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for outdoors and connecting with the community out on the trails!”

Please reach out to Cathy at cathy@downeastcoastalconservancy.org or (207) 255-4500 if you are interested in more information on how to get involved with DCC.
