Early this fall – local business women Gina Finn and Tara Johnson organized with our Outreach Director Cathy Lookabaugh, a fall family mini-festival at Middle River Park in Machias! The two-day event was scaled back from original plans to ensure safety due to COVID-19 but still featured self-guided family friendly activities.

The Story Trail had a special double feature with two Halloween themed books! There were large yard games scattered in the field and the trail was decorated including two fun photo booths. More than 200 children and families enjoyed the festival at their own pace. Families didn’t leave empty handed either, participants received free cotton candy puffs and popcorn bags from How Sweet It Is, Halloween Crayons donated by Machias River General, and a take-home hedgehog craft from Porter Memorial Library – while supplies lasted! There was even a special visit from the Machias Fire Department!

The event was sponsored by Machias River General Store and Johnson’s Town Line Auto. The two businesses look forward to sponsoring an even larger event next year with DCC!
