Walk and Talk: Middle River History
October 5, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
This event was rescheduled to October 5th due to the weather forecast!
Discover the Machias history in our own backyard! Join us for a guided walk of Middle River Park led by DCC Board Member Robin Pinto. When we stop to look, our lands and waters can teach us much about survival in Downeast Maine. On our short walk, we will see the historic record still evident in the landscape today. The land will tell us many stories – including how our early settlers, blessed by these natural resources, thrived and how they challenged the British Navy at the start of the Revolutionary War.
Please wear appropriate footwear for hiking and dress for the weather. Bring your own water and snack.
Directions: From Route 1 in Machias, across the street from Helen’s Restaurant, turn onto Kilton Lane. Cross over the Sunrise Trail and immediately turn left. Take the second right and park in the lot at the top of the hill. The trails begin atop the field. Hand-carry boat access is available below the end of the parking area.
