Volunteer Workday at Vining Lake Community Preserve

July 31, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join us for a morning of trail work at our new Vining Lake Community Preserve. We have been working diligently to finish up the trail system and are seeking a helping hand from our volunteers to help with some finishing touches. We will work to level the trail in places, limb and clean up the trail corridor, and install bog bridging in certain areas of the trail that need it. Work will include hiking, working with hand tools (loppers, hand saws, shovels and rakes), and potentially some lifting. Please come prepared to be outside with adequate footwear, bug and tick protection/spray, plenty of water and food, and gloves (we have plenty of extras!). We will plan to meet at the Vining Lake Community Preserve at 9am and work until around 2pm. This activity is weather dependent, so we will be in touch the week of if the weather looks bad. For more information or questions, please feel free to reach out to Kyle Winslow, Stewardship Director – kyle@downeastcoastalconservancy.org or call 207-255-4500.

Directions: Turn onto the Vining Lake Rd. off of Rt. 191 (Approximately 16.3 miles from the intersection of Rt. 191 and Rt. 1 in East Machias, or approximately 17.8 miles from the intersection of Rt. 191 and Rt. 1 in Baring). It is just about 0.8 miles past the Cathance Lake Boat landing on your left (if you’re coming from Machias). Continue down the Vining Lake road and continue straight pass a barn on your left at the Y in the road. Continue down the dirt road until you see the parking lot on your left.
