Soundwalk Series: Reversing Falls Preserve

September 20, 2025 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

The Island Soundscape Project, in partnership with the Maine Coast Heritage Trust and the Downeast Coastal Conservancy, is hosting a series of guided walks focused on helping visitors to connect with place through listening. The primary guide is Dr. Karen Beeftink, Associate Professor of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism at the University of Maine at Machias.

The first installment of three soundwalks will be focused on the change in sound as the tide shifts and seawater rushes over bedrock creating the “reversing” effect that makes Reversing Falls.

These are all free and open to the public. Participants are welcome to join a single walk or all three in the series.

Happening Saturday September 20th, starting at the Reversing Falls Preserve trailhead at 10:30am.
