Nature Story & Walk

January 27 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Over the snow, the world is hushed and white. But under the snow exists a secret kingdom of squirrels and snow hares, bears and bullfrogs, and many other animals that live through the winter safe and warm, awake and busy, under the snow.

Come to Middle River Park and listen to a reading of the book Over and Under the Snow. We’ll start by reading this story aloud and then take a walk through the woods looking for evidence of winter adaptations. This event is family-friendly with the focus on introducing concepts of nature in the winter for children.

Directions: From Route 1 in Machias, across the street from Helen’s Restaurant, turn onto Kilton Lane. Cross over the Sunrise Trail and immediately turn left. Take the second right and park in the lot at the top of the hill.

Outdoor programs are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather, updates will be posted here and on social media. Register here for email updates.
