Geology Hike – CANCELLED
November 8, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Group health and safety is our priority and considering the mini-spike of COVID 19 cases currently in Washington County we feel it is be best to postpone the event. Thank you all for understanding and we will reach out with a new date, most likely for a date in spring/summer of the new year.
In the meantime keep exploring the trails, this weekend is looking like beautiful fall weather! We can’t wait to hit the trail with you as soon as we can.

Downeast Coastal Conservancy and the Washington County Gem and Mineral Society are partnering for a joint hike through Reversing Falls in Pembroke on November 8th at 11am. Join DCC and WCGMS as we explore the area, talk about geology, and look for fossils. We will hike along the wooded shore and around the cove to a rocky viewpoint, walking about 1 mile round trip.
WCGMS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing information and education about earth science and the rockhounding hobby. WCGMS is a member of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies, Inc.
Directions: Take Route 1 to Pembroke. Turn east onto the extension of Route 214, immediately beside the Irving gas station. Turn right at the stop sign, then take an immediate left up a small hill onto the Leighton Point Road. Continue 3.3 miles, then turn right onto Clarkside Road and continue for 1.2 miles. At the end of Clarkside Road, turn left onto a dirt road and continue for 1.5 miles to the parking area.
