Since starting my internship in May with DCC, I have been fortunate enough to be able to spend a good bit of time outside on the trails at a number of DCC’s properties. A few weeks ago, I hiked the approximately 2.5-mile trail system at Tide Mill Creek in Jonesboro for the first time, and it did not disappoint! The 225-acre preserve offers a wonderful scenic hike along an old roadbed, through forest, and along the beautiful and scenic Tide Mill Creek.

As I wandered the trails, I found ample opportunity to take photographs of the scenery, watch the wildlife, and take in the amazing views of the creek. There is much to discover along the way. I found a birch tree rotting away that looked a bit like a skeleton on the Honey Pot Trail, proving you never know what you might find when you go out and explore nature! Whether it is your first time visiting Tide Mill Creek, or you are a seasoned adventure, I encourage everyone to plan a hike there this year. Just don’t forget your bug spray!
