Coastal Flood Observation Event
March 10 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Downeast Coastal Conservancy and Maine Coast Heritage Trust are excited to invite you to participate in the Coastal Flooding Community Science project at the Machias Bay Area Chamber of Commerce on Sunday, March 10th at 10am. This project asks participants to make observations of coastal flooding and coastal flood impacts at select sites in the community. DCC and MCHT staff will discuss the project and go over some simple data collection procedures then we will go into the field and collect data at monitoring sites. The data collected as part of this citizen science project aids in understanding the unique vulnerabilities our communities experience as sea levels rise and assists in resilience planning and emergency management. This project is in partnership with the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.
