Sheep Island Preserve

Sheep Island is a 6-acre island located 1/4 mile from the mainland and is accessible for boaters of all types.

Description:

Marked by clusters of trees at each end, this island includes a beautiful narrow sand beach and thins to a meadow at its center. A DCC sign on the north side welcomes visitors ashore. The beach on the island’s north shore provides an excellent place to land and enjoy the stunning scenery of Pleasant Bay. Camping is allowed on Sheep Island in the established campsite just upland from the north beach. The campsite contains an approved fire ring and a privy.

Trailhead Directions:

The closest boat-launching site is at the town landing in South Addison. From Route 1, turn south onto Route 187/Indian River Road at Wild Blueberry Land. In 2 miles, turn right on Wescogus. Road Continue 1.5 miles and turn left on East Side Road Follow East Side Road about 6 miles and turn right onto Mooseneck Road Continue on Mooseneck Road 1.5 miles, then stay straight on Narrows Road. In 0.7 mile, turn right on Marsh Island Road in 0.5 mile, stay right on Marsh Island Road to the town landing.
