Pigeon Hill

Pigeon Hill stands as the highest coastal property in Washington County with an elevation of 317 feet.

The summit features spectacular panoramic views including Donnell Pond Public Reserved Lands, Acadia National Park, Petit Manan Lighthouse (the second tallest in Maine), and the Greater Pleasant Bay Region. The 170-acre preserve hosts and many unique features including Maritime Spruce-Fir and jack pine woodlands, excellent viewing habitat for hawks and birds, the remains of an 1800s abandoned silver mine, and a spur trail leading to a unique glacial erratic boulder. This preserve was acquired with the support of the Land for Maine’s Future program between 2007 and 2010.

Directions: From Milbridge or points east, drive south on Rt. 1 about 2.2 miles from the sharp left turn leaving Milbridge. Turn left onto Pigeon Hill Road. Drive about 4.5 miles to the parking area opposite an old cemetery on the left.

From Steuben or points west, drive north on Rt. 1 about 4.3 miles from the Hancock-Washington County line. Turn right onto Pigeon Hill Road. Drive about 4.5 miles from the intersection of Route 1 and Pigeon Hill Road to the parking area opposite an old cemetery on the left.
