Machias River Preserve Interpretive Hike / Farewell Matt!

June 13, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Matt Scaccia and wish him well as he leads his last hike as DCC’s Land Steward! Matt will be leaving DCC later this month and starting a new position with the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests- a statewide land trust based in Concord, NH. He has greatly enjoyed working for DCC since 2016 and would like thank our volunteers, members, staff, and board for their collective efforts toward advancing our work and helping create an inspiring conservation legacy in Downeast Maine. This fun, interpretive hike will showcase the new series of educational signs on the Machias River Heritage Trail. We will meet at the Heritage Trail parking area, about 0.5 miles south of the Down East Community Hospital on your left, at 5pm. We’ll talk about the history of the Machias River and dive into a variety of topics along the 3 mile trail. If you have not been on this beautiful, riverside hike yet, this is a great chance to get out there! Be sure to bring bug repellent, snacks, water, and appropriate hiking shoes!
